We were down in Waterford for the night last night and we stayed at Dooleys hotel in the city center. I decided to take the opportunity to review a few pubs while there. We got a very good deal on the hotel and were delighted with the room and the hotel in general. There is car parking available across the road by the bus station. It costs 5.50 for 24 hours. The Dry dock bar is the main bar in the hotel and is a very trendy hotel bar. It is a good size and is split into two areas. There is the main bar and The Paddy Kirwan room just off the main bar. We sat in this room and there is plenty of horse racing memorabilia to grab your attention. The seats in this area are very comfortable. We ordered bar food from the a la carte menu and it was delicious and very good value. Jen had a glass of red wine and i had a mineral. I didn’t have a pint in the bar. The whole bar was full of people eating food which indicates that it is very popular for food. There is live Irish music on a Wednesday night during the summer season. There is live music every Friday and Saturday night.
The toilets are situated outside of the bar in the main lobby of the hotel. They are big toilets and in immaculate condition. This is a great bar and a great hotel. I can highly recommend Dooleys if you are thinking of staying in Waterford city. It has a lot of old world charm combined with modern day facilities. I would certainly stay here again.
