The final bar that we visited on our whistle stop tour of Killarneys pubs was Dunloe Lodge situated on Plunkett street. We just arrived in after the live music was finished. I was disappointed as i heard a few people commenting on how good the music was. Dunloe Lodge is quite a small bar. When we went in it was very busy and was practically full to the rafters. I ordered a pint of Guinness and glass of Budweiser. To be honest it was my favourite pub of the night. It just seemed to have a good atmosphere and a bit of craic. The pint of Guinness was by far the best i got down in Killarney. It went down very well indeed.
Dunloe Lodge was my favourite pub but their toilets were the worst of the night. They are small and the one cubicle available was in an awful mess. The toilet seat was hanging off. I am very particular about toilets as you will know from some of the reviews. The toilet here hasn’t clouded my judgement of the place thankfully. I would head back to this pub if i was in Killarney again. If you are a tourist looking for a Irish bar with no friils but plenty character then check out this pub.

Final comment: Dunloe Lodge is a good traditional bar. It may suit some people, others may not like it but why not check it out.
Visited in 2002 with my wife in December on our honeymoon. We had sooo much fun, we couldn’t remember the name of the B&B we were staying at or how to get there!!! we gave the cab driver a rough description and he thankfully got us home. A duo called Bog Ashe played that night. FANTASTIC pair of guys, simple irish tunes played with spirit. Inch by Inch was a favorite. Our favorite bar in the whole country, followed by the King’s Head in Galway.

Forgot to say that myself and the Wife are from Fruitland, Maryland, USA. I was a Pub manager at the time of our visit and this place really impressed. The bathrooms were clean and in good repair the night we were there, BTW!

One of our favorite stops on our trip. We toured Ireland for our honeymoon. We’re from Texas. We loved the Dunloe Lodge and Bog Ashe, who played that night. A must-see for anyone who visits. A great pint too!
I visited Dunloe Lodge several times when I visited Ireland. We loved the Pub and Bog Ashe. We Americans had a screamfest with some people from Dublin while Bog Ashe was singing the song “Alice”!!! =ALICE-who the f— is Alice??= We were sitting in the back corner and they were along the bar. What fun we had!!
I also would like to know if Bog Ashe currently has a website. I would like to purchase more of their music.
We had some great nights and enjoyed the great music of Bog Ashe. I Wish I was there now enjoying the music and atmosphere. We made great friends too and I hope life is good for them. John Coyle and his family introduced me to a great place and although sometime has lapsed great memories. Thank you so much.
If not the best pub with the best music in Ireland, it is close – Bog Ashe is terrific.
We have visited the Dunloe many times and have always had a fabulous time. The best Guiness in Ireland and great music. Bog Ashe are remarkable.

r.e. Bog Ashe, at the Dunloe Lodge, I heard them playing there a little over a week ago to a packed crowd. At one point, a young woman got up from the bar and spontaneously began dancing an Irish reel — unforgettable. they have a CD that I wish I knew how to order — they were too busy playing that night for me to purchase it!
