Cogans Sold

Our local pub in Carrigaline has been sold to a local business man. Finbarr and Colette Cogan owned the pub for a long time and it was a sad day for me personally when the doors shut. Apparently it is reopening under the new owners this Thursday. I have heard that there are big plans for the building. I can imagine it being turned into a very trendy upmarket bar. If being honest i liked the way Cogans was quiet and you would always get a seat and the regulars always had a word or two to say. Finbarr and Colette will be missed by us along with Martin and Margaret behind the bar. A lot of happy times were spent by me and my friends here and we will always have the memories.

  • The words “trendy”, “upmarket” and “Cogan’s” don’t fit in the one sentence. I’m opposed to the whole thing, damn damn opposed. Cogan’s should remain Cogan’s no matter who owns it. I’ll be boycotting any ‘superpub’ or ‘trendy night spot’ they put there. Suddenly, Carrigaline lost some of it’s already waining appeal.

  • i bought it! and i’m gonna turn it into “Bingey McMingey’s” – a temple of debouchery and lechery. te debouchery shall be performd by teenage girls in miniskirts, the lechery by lil’ ole me! i can hardly wait! i think it’s gonna be very popular, and the old regulars are still welcome……

  • I’m no longer opposed to the sale…

  • I do hope it stays a pub in two years time, or will barry knock it down to have better access to his new development.
It would be a shame to lose yet another pub, but in fairness the place is a kip, full of the kind of people the other pubs dont want.
Ever since it was taken over the scum that were barred are now back in there, the bar is a godawful place and the lounge is full of the local weirdos and 16 year old kids down the back.

  • cogans is a great pub.where better to go for some of the best quality pints around.i will say at the start it had some rough characters in around it but that has been sorted out and now the place is much as it was when finbar and collette were runing it,except for the entertainment collette gave us every week.its a great place to go watch a match or meet with friends.the staff are very friendly and there is a nice atmosphere in the place.i have heard 2 rumours.1 it is to be knocked down for a entrance to new village development behind cogans.they will hold the pub liscense and have it for a new pub they are building.2 i hear they are going modernising the existing cogans, which will probably kill off the entire character of the pub.either way change is coming so im off to cogans to enjoy the place while i can.see you there.
