The next bar we visited was Linekers bar on Avenida de las Playas. It is another pub that is upstairs. I have heard of this pub before but it was somewhere in Spain. They must be a chain and i presume that they are owned or are in some way connected to Gary Lineker. We went upstairs and were very surprised to find this huge bar empty bar us and the barman. He was very chatty and myself and Jen decided to have a game of pool. We had our choice of tables. There was plenty seating available all over the pub. I had a pint and Jen had a diet coke very sensibly! The large beer and diet coke cost 4 euro 50. The pint was good. There was a few people came in while we were there but it was very quiet. It was about half 10 when we were there.
The toilets were very clean and there was one cubicle and three urinals available. The barman was acting dj for the night as i saw him in the djing booth. To be fair we were passing this pub the following night and it was packed with people as England were playing. It obviously attracts the football crowd. All in all not a bad pub but just a pity it was so quiet.

Final comment: Linekers bar is definately a place to head with a big group because there is so much space.
The next pub that we visited was Redz bar just further down the main strip towards the old town of Puerto Del Carmen. We were enticed into this bar by a guy outside who told us how cheap the drinks were. Again it is upstairs and there is an area to sit outside. We sat on a couch and there was a big family with kids sitting across from us. The girl behind the bar brought us our drinks to the table and we got a pint and a half of beer. It cost three euro for this, two euro less than the previous bar and much less than one pint in Ireland. There was a couple of red couches around the bar and there was karaoke. I am normally a big fan of going up for a song but not on this occasion. To be honest i didn’t really like this bar, it’s just not the kind of place i would normally head into. To be fair the staff were nice and the dj was good but Jen and i just hurried our drinks and left.
The toilet is small but was ok when i checked it. You certainly cannot get better value for drinks but in my honest opinion Lanzarote has much better establishments to offer. Check it out for yourself.

Final comment: Redz bar on the main strip in the new town of Puerto Del Carmen has a lot of competition.
This was the first pub that we went into on our night out in Lanzarote. It is located in the new town along the main strip above shops. It is quite a small bar and was relatively quiet when we headed in at about 9pm. There was an eircom league match between Galway and Sligo being shown on the two screens. The first thing i noticed as i walked in was the many signed County GAA shirts. It was 5 euro for a glass and a half of beer. The beer was good and went down well. The lady behind the bar was pleasant and another younger lady working there had a chat with us and was very friendly. There is an area just outside as well where you can sit and enjoy a drink overlooking the main strip.
The toilets here are small but were very well maintained and Jen went as far as saying they were the cleanest toilets she has seen abroad. We just stayed for the one drink in Murphy’s and as we were going there was a musician setting up on their small stage. It was a very relaxed visit.
Toilet rating:8/10
Pint rating: 7/10
Overall rating: 7/10
Final comment: Murphy’s bar was grand for the pint we had there. I am sure that it got much busier as the night progressed.
Thanks to every one who still checks out the site. Its been 10 months since the last post and this is due to a number of very understandable personal reasons. We are both very busy and are now living quite a bit apart. You will notice that the site will come to life again soon. I am just back from Lanzarote where i checked out many of their fine drinking establishments.
Thanks
Eoin
